I have been a member of EATAW since its first conference in Groningen (2001). EATAW is an active, open and creative organization. To find scholars all around Europe and beyond with their different approaches, experiences and disciplines offers opportunities for rich discussions. Keeping EATAW open and diverse, consolidating research findings and engaging in the (writing) community are my visions. I’d be honoured to support EATAW with my professional and personal experiences.
My interest in (teaching) writing extends for more than ten years. As a student I attended a class on “writing” and was fascinated by the subject. Immediately after my graduation I started working as a teaching assistant in a course on “professional writing”. I wrote my PhD about “audience awareness in writing”. I then worked in a project on “Teaching writing to engineering students”. Currently I teach writing to prospective teachers (elementary school, high school, school for mentally handicapped children) at the University of Cologne. I’m also working as a writing coach (freelancer) for PhD-students and professionals. I’m especially interested is the transition between school and university but also between academic and professional writing. My goal is to support writers in these (mostly perceived as difficult) transition periods.
