I have been involved in EATAW since its beginning in 1999 and have been a member on all boards (with exception of the term 2001-2002). To me, founding EATAW has been an important step of transgressing national boundaries. I am more aware than ever, how important communication across cultures is, but also, how fragile an organization like EATAW is. I hope that the new constitution will stabilize EATAW and help initiating a wider spectrum of activities than now. I have been engaged in research and teaching of writing for about 20 years now, initially focussing on writing instruction for students, lately working as a trainer and consultant for universities. At the moment, I am the chair of the Swiss Forum for Academic Writing, a national section of EATAW, which we founded two years ago.
