Conference Dinner

There will be a joint conference dinner on Sunday, July 1, at a traditional brewery (www.tauffenbach.de). The price of the dinner is included in the conference fee.

Warm-Up Dinner

For those who come into town early, there will be a get-together on friday night at 6:30 pm.

We will meet at the Art Hotel Tucholsky (where some of you will be staying), Viktoriastraße 73, Bochum.

To get there from the main station, turn left and walk down the Südring, then turn left into Viktoriastraße and the restaurant is on the left hand side.

Writers' Night

As we did at the last conference, we would like to invite those of you who come to town earlier to a very special event:

Let´s celebrate a writers' night together! The evening preceding the official conference  program will provide an opportunity to get together in a rather unusual way. With the support of writing games and prompts, we want to foster communication among the participants by writing with different people in varying small groups.

Everybody is welcome, regardless of his or her English language skills.

The evening will be hosted by Katrin Girgensohn and students from European University Viadrina. Please send an email if you are interested in participating: girgensohn@schreibreisen.de .

We are looking forward to meeting you at the writer's circus:
friday night, 8.30 p.m. at "Euro Eck" (Ruhr-Universität Bochum).
Various attractions are waiting for you!

Yours sincerely,
Katrin, Franziska, Nadia
- Writer's circus directors -

How to get there

Take the U35 underground to Ruhr-Universität Bochum, exit left and walk towards the shopping street. When you have reached it, turn left.

Walk down the stairs left of the indoor swimming-pool, cross the street "Bellenkamp" and turn into Spechtsweg. The Euro-Eck is on your right hand side after about 100m. There wil be signs indicating the Writers' Night.

Photo Exhibition

We booked some show cases in the entrance of the conference hall and we would be glad to arrange an exibition for the participants of the conference. Ulrike Lange (University of Mainz) initiates and manages this exhibition.

Here's her call:

At the 2007 EATAW conference we plan a small photo exhibition. Since we can't make our own writing processes visible at the conference, we would like to invite participants to look at the places where these processes occur instead.

To realize this project, we need your help: Please send us a photograph of the place(s) where you write and think, for instance, photographs of desks, offices, libraries, kitchens, garden houses, park benches, train compartments, or any other place you use to write and think.

Please don't send pictures of people who are writing but just of places and arrangements of writing tools, books, etc. The photos will be used anonymously for some kind of collage.

Please send digital photos or paper copies (please note: in this case
photos can't be returned) until June 11 to

Thank you very much for participating in this project. We hope we can
realize a stimulating collection of what our writing spaces look like.

Book Tables

There will be a book sale at the conference, organized by a local book store.

Also, if you want to be sure your publications are available to the conference public, please bring them along - there will be an opportunity to present them at a supervised book table.
